Rhonda Devan, Groundswell International’s Chief Financial Officer, ran the Berlin marathon on Sunday, September 29, 2019. Running has been a key ingredient to Rhonda’s own empowerment. It has made her stronger and more confident, she has found community and joy, and it has motivated her to make healthier and more mindful choices.
If you meet Rhonda, you will quickly learn that she is passionate about much more than running. Empowering other women has become a personal mission. She goes above and beyond in her official role as CFO and as a member of Groundswell’s executive team. Rhonda has been instrumental in providing finance and management capacity building services for Groundswell’s partner non-government organizations in Latin America and West Africa. She travels to the field frequently to work face-to-face with her counterparts overseas, many of whom are women.
For Rhonda, empowering women is simply revealing choices they have spent a lifetime thinking were impossible. Empowering women is a key component of Groundswell’s work, which means Rhonda has found a place where her passion can fully express itself. So, whether she is running to raise awareness about Groundswell, or working quietly behind the scenes to build the capacity of the women on our partners’ management and finance teams, Rhonda is playing a vital role in improving the lives of women and their communities everywhere Groundswell works.
